The Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage
Trinity Episcopal Church

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! Trinity Church receives many inquiries from engaged couples hoping to hold their marriage ceremony in our church. While we agree that Trinity Church is a picture perfect setting for a marriage celebration, we understand the wedding ceremony to be only the first of many sacred steps toward life-long communion with one another and with God though the church.
A Christian marriage ceremony is a time of great joy mingled with solemn purpose, as a man and a woman meet before the altar of God, in the presence of Christian community, to pledge to each other a lifelong union of fidelity and love. It is a sacrament received by a couple within the context of church community. Therefore, we reserve the use of our sanctuary for weddings of Trinity members, their immediate family members, or members in good standing of another Episcopal church. Couples who are not members of another church are welcome to meet with the Rector to discuss membership at Trinity.
The church understands its role as one that blesses a couple’s vows for a life-long relationship and commits to helping the marriage partners flourish in that relationship. Consequently, couples marrying at Trinity are required to participate in premarital counseling with one of our clergy. Premarital counseling consists of several sessions (usually 4-6) over a period of months.
Additionally, we expect couples who establish their marriage here to integrate into the life of our parish (or the life of their own parish) so that couple and church community may be a mutual blessing to one another and partners in the journey of Christian life. Thus, the church will fulfill its vow to the new couple to nourish and uphold them in their marriage.
As you consider your wedding plans it may be helpful to know the fees Trinity charges to cover the expenses of hosting your ceremony.
Fee for Trinity Members: $350
Fee for members of other Episcopal Churches: $850
This fee includes the honorarium for the organist for your wedding. (If additional rehearsal time is required for use of a soloist, an additional $100 fee will be charged.) This fee also includes custodial and facility expenses. It does not include the honorarium due the clergy (suggested minimum $200). Flowers and photography are separate expenses as well.
The clergy and congregation of Trinity Episcopal Church are committed to working with each couple to prepare a beautiful wedding service, and more importantly, for a beautiful and life-long marriage.
If upon reading this information, you would like to plan a marriage celebration at Trinity, please contact our office at 903-753-3366 to schedule an appointment with our Rector, The Reverend Kevin Wittmayer.

Wedding Planning

To assist you in planning your marriage service, we have attached the wedding liturgy that is used in our services. Included you will find approved scripture readings, from which to select your choices. One or more of the passages is to be read; if your service includes Eucharist, a gospel passage must be chosen.
