The Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage

Trinity Episcopal Church receives many inquiries from engaged couples hoping to utilize our beautiful facility as the setting for their wedding.  While we agree that the Nave of Trinity is a picture perfect location for a marriage celebration, we understand the wedding ceremony to be only the first of many sacred steps toward lifelong communion with one another and with God through the Church.

A Christian marriage ceremony is a time of great joy mingled with solemn purpose as the couple meets before the altar of God, in the presence of the Christian community, to pledge to each other a permanent union of fidelity and love.  Therefore, we reserve the use of our sanctuary for weddings of Trinity members, their immediate family members, and members in good standing of another Episcopal church.  Couples who are not members of another church are welcome to meet with the Rector to discuss membership at Trinity.

The Church understands its role as one that blesses a couple’s vows for an enduring relationship and commits to helping the marriage partners flourish in that relationship.  Consequently, couples marrying at Trinity are required to participate in premarital counseling with our Rector.  Premarital counseling consists of several sessions (usually 4-6) over a period of months.

Additionally, Trinity has a volunteer wedding coordinator with whom the bride and any other interested persons should meet to discuss the logistics of holding your wedding at Trinity Church.

As you consider your wedding plans, it may be helpful to know the fees Trinity charges to cover the expenses of hosting your ceremony.

  • Fee for Trinity Members:  $350
  • Fee for members of other Episcopal Churches:  $750

There is no fee for the services of the clergy. Any voluntary contributions made are placed in the Rector's discretionary fund, which is used for charitable work and the relief of those in need.

The Rector and congregation of Trinity Episcopal Church are committed to working with each couple to prepare a beautiful wedding service, and more importantly, a beautiful and lifelong marriage.

If upon reading this information, you would like to plan a marriage celebration at Trinity, please contact our office at 903.753.3366 to schedule an appointment with our Rector.

To assist you in planning your marriage ceremony, attached is the wedding liturgy that is used in our services.  Included you will find approved scripture readings from which to select your choices.  One or more of the passages is to be read.  If your service includes Eucharist, a gospel passage must be included.
